In the mid-2000s, when crossovers started to conquer the worldwide car market, automotive journalists were convinced that station wagons would soon disappear as a class. But many years down the road, they still possess a noticeable niche in various markets around the globe and don’t seem to be going anywhere.
Part of the reason for that is certainly their practicality but beyond that, many enthusiasts are attracted to their subtle yet unique design that makes them stand out among more conventional coupes and sedans.

Arteon Shooting Brake Build
The Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake that we’re featuring today is hands down one of the most striking-looking station wagons of the brand. With its aggressive front design and stylish side profile, it’s impossible not to fall in love with it, especially when it’s outfitted with striking custom wheels and lowered suspension.
“The shooting brake wagon looks even better than the liftback, in our opinion. And it’s not only about aesthetics but also about practicality”

This performance-oriented R-Line shooting brake is owned and modified by an enthusiast from Taiwan. The car is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine which produces 272 horsepower, giving this wagon just enough power to keep up with the best coupes and sedans in this market segment.
Having a striking design right from the factory, there wasn’t much needed for the car to really stand out except for a couple of styling upgrades that would enhance its appearance. The owner decided to start with the body color and opted for a mint green vinyl wrap, which gave the wagon a more unique custom look.

Custom Wheels
As with any build, custom wheels play the most important role in the way a vehicle looks and drives, so the owner decided to switch the factory wheels with Rotiform RSE multi-spoke rims sized 20×10 with 25 mm offset.
“Low stance, classy wheels, and a striking green vinyl wrap have turned this Arteon into a sick-looking slammed wagon that turns heads wherever it drives.”
Suspension
To fit them nicely in the wheel wells and drive that stanced look home, it was decided to outfit the wagon with AGT air coilovers that would help achieve a more radical drop height and make it look even more awesome. An Airlift 3H management system is responsible for adjusting the ride height on the go from the convenience of the driver’s seat.

List of Modifications
Performance
- 2.0L Turbocharged engine 272HP
- Brembo brakes
Air suspension
- AGT Air Coilovers with Airlift 3H management
Wheels
- Rotiform RSE rims 20×10 ET25

With all the power of the factory turbocharged engine, the owner didn’t need much improvement in this department, yet he chose to switch the brakes with a more capable set of Brembo big brakes, which significantly improved the stopping power.

Conclusion
This modified Volkswagen Arteon shooting brake proves that station wagons are far from being a dying bereed in the automotive world. In fact, it’s quite opposite. The striking design of this wagon with low stance creates a perfect blend of practicality, uniqueness and strong visual appeal.
