Probably, the most popular muscle car in the world, the Ford Mustang boasts a huge army of followers and owners. The model was launched back in 1964 and attracted attention immediately – its outstanding combination of excellent performance and affordable price tag left almost no one indifferent.
In fact, success was so solid that the Mustang is still in production today after almost six decades of run. The 10-millionth unit left the assembly line in 2018. Besides, it is the longest-living and fifth-best selling car nameplate by Ford.
A huge part of Mustang owners are also car enthusiasts that like to modify vehicles in their own ways, varying from small changes up to a complete makeover. Even though the Mustang delivers impressive performance and look from the factory, there is always room for improvement.
Trevor’s S550 Build
Recently, we were able to get in touch with one of these enthusiasts – Trevor Farid from Loganville, GA and he told us about his 2018 Ford Mustang GT and all modifications he made to the car and we are very thankful for that.
Performance
There are lots of upgrades Trevor has made, let’s start from the engine. The vehicle employs a 5.0 L V8 that features long tube headers by Pypes, Palm Beach Dyno 93 & E85 tunes and cold air intake by JLT and works together with cat back exhaust by Corsa Sport.
Suspension
The OEM suspension of the Mustang now features BMR vertical links along with Full Air Lift 3P air management system. The vehicle rides on Velgen VF9 wheels of different sizes covered with Continental DWS06 Plus tires. Behind them are Brembo brake calipers in front and 2019 Mustang Bullitt ones in the rear.
Exterior
Both exterior and interior received a range of upgrades too. From the outside, there are MP Concepts fenders and front bumper, Cervinis GT500 Hood, and side and rear splitters, spoiler and rear diffuser by Drake Muscle.
The car is covered with ceramic coating by Adam’s Polishes. Inside, there is a custom painted dashboard bezel, forged carbon steering wheel by LP Performance Co. and Barton Short throw shifter featuring shift knob by Anarchy Motive.
Interview With the Owner
How did you get into the muscle car scene?
– Grew up in a shop and always enjoyed being around and tinkering with cars.
Why did you choose an S550 Mustang?
– It was good power for the value and the aftermarket support is endless.
What inspired you to choose this modification style?
– I wanted something that wowed people but I like clean builds, not too much going on. I also like wild colors which is what inspired the brake caliper color choice.
What challenges did you face while putting it together?
– There weren’t really a lot of challenges for me, I’m a Mechanic of 20 years plus like I said I grew up in a shop so there’s not a lot I can’t do myself. I guess if I had to pick one thing that was challenging it would be finances to do what I want. But 99% of all the work done on the car was done by myself.
What do you love about your vehicle?
– Really everything, I love that windows down cruising around with the sound of the exhaust feeling you get.
Is it your daily or a weekend ride?
– It was originally intended to be my daily and it quickly became my weekend fun ride that I only drive a few times a week.
Do you take it to local car shows or a race track?
– I do take it to as many car shows as I can, I have never taken it in a track yet. Hopefully that will change.

What are your future plans about this vehicle?
– Immediate future plans are some sort of boost, preferably twin turbos and some more suspension upgrades.
Anything else you would like to share about your car or about modifying cars in general?
– Just enjoy it, it’s meant to express yourself. Do what you want, don’t do what you think others would like. Be different and live life.
Conclusion
The exterior category leads the charge at 9 points, transforming this S550 with its GT500-style front end and full Drake Muscle aero package. Suspension follows with a perfect 10-point score thanks to that Air Lift 3P setup, while the performance mods hit 5 points through a mix of intake, exhaust and brake upgrades. This S550 simply nails the stance game – the Air Lift 3P system paired with those staggered Velgen VF9s and meaty Continental rubber creates a perfect profile at any height.
