Throughout the years we’ve featured many Mustang performance builds of different calibers. Some owners focus on basic bolt-ons like intakes and exhaust, while others dive deeper with tunes and more complex enhancements. But only a select few decide to go all out on performance and install truly complex upgrades like superchargers or turbo kits. These are game-changing modifications that completely transform the HP and torque output of the motor, requiring numerous other tweaks throughout the engine, cooling system, and drivetrain.
When I first stumbled upon this 2017 GT, it immediately caught my attention with its show-stopping looks. But to my surprise, it wasn’t just another Instagram builds with flashy appearance. Maxwell S. from West Virginia, the owner of this S550 has meticulously enhanced every aspect of the build – improving the aesthetics, suspension, and of course, the performance featuring insane Paxton 2200SL Supercharger and a fully built 6r80 transmission, creating what might be the perfect GT S550 build for any Mustang fan. Raead to for the full break down on the mods and upgrades!
Key Mods:
- Paxton Supercharger
- Air Suspension
- GT500 Front End Conversion

Supercharged S550 GT Build
This Mustang isn’t just about looking good (though it certainly does that). On the dyno, it puts down an impressive 622hp and 538ft-lbs of torque running on 93 octane.
Performance
At the core of this S550 GT build is the Paxton 2200SL Supercharger, a centrifugal forced induction system that dramatically increases the airflow into the 5.0 Coyote engine, giving out sick 622hp and 538ft-lbs of torque on 93 octane. The 50mm TiAL Q Blow Off Valve that relieves pressure when the throttle closes, protecting the system with that cool turboish “whoosh” sound.

Power By The Hour Performance built 6r80 transmission paired with an FTI Torque Converter is the one to handle such a substantial power increase.
The stock exhaust has obviously been replaced with Stainless Works 1-7/8″ Long Tube Headers that extract spent gases more efficiently, an MBRP catless H-Pipe that reduces backpressure, and deeper sounding Corsa Xtremes for that signature muscle car tone. All in all these big and small mods transform this GT into a the absolute beast of a machine to be driving.

Wheels & Suspension

This sky-blue S550 sits low on an Air Lift Performance 3P suspension system, providing the perfect balance between aggressive stance and practical drivability with adjustable height at the push of a button. This setup lets Maxwell drop the car for shows or raise it for some spirited driving.
The wheel choice is equally impressive – custom built GMR GS-5 wheels with step lip crafted by @ji0_ in a staggered configuration (20×10 +34 up front and wider 20×11 +54 in the rear) provide striking looks and allow running wider tires.
Wrapped in Lexani LX-Twenty tires (255/35R20 front, 285/35R20 rear), this wheel combo delivers the grip needed to handle all that boosted power to the ground.

Exterior
The exterior mods transform this S550 from a basic GT to and absolute street icon. The Cervinis Cobra R Hood adds a few inches of air above the supercharger improving heat extraction. The I5 Autohaus GT500 conversion Front Bumper gives the car a more commanding presence promising that it’s not just a base GT.
Street Aero components—including the Cross Faded Side Skirts and rear Diffuser—provide both style and functional aerodynamics, while the Cervinis Stalker Spoiler caps off the rear with a tasteful yet sporty touch.
Clear 2018-style S550 Euro taillights refresh the looks, and the G2 Caliper Paint adds a splash of color behind those polished wheels.

The performance category follows with a solid 10/10 score, thanks to the game-changing Paxton supercharger pushing over 620hp to the wheels. Unlike many other Mustang builds, this 2017 GT has got serious performance chops to back up its show-stopping looks. Where some builders focus solely on stance and aesthetic appeal, Maxwell has taken the complete approach, addressing every performance aspect from forced induction to exhaust flow and drivetrain durability. With impressive 622hp dyno-proven output, this is one of the most comprehensive S550 builds we’ve featured in a while.
