With its subtle appearance, the Pontiac G8 has carved a soft spot in the hearts of many GM muscle car fans of the late 2000s, thanks to its iconic V8 engines. But what made these cars so cool was the fact that they’re not entirely American. This model was developed and produced in Australia under the brand Holden and then imported to the states and sold here under the name Pontiac. Its 6.0L V8 high-performance version called G8 GT helped to keep the modern muscle car spirit alive. Plus, it was one of the few V8-powered high-performance sedans on the market during its time.
Once I first stumbled upon this modified Yellow Pontiac G8 GT, it immediately caught my attention. It didn’t have screaming exterior mods, but you just couldn’t pass through it’s HSV E3 front bumper conversion (a popular modification on among the G8 owners to highlight it’s Australian roots). G8 GT Build
Just as I thought, except for the front bumper it featured lots of other subtle upgrades that perfectly enhanced the original styling with some custom bits, promising that it’s not another grocery getter.
The owner has taken care of every aspect of the build – improving the suspension, performance, and of course, the look wrapped in a head-turning yellow package.
Performance
Under the hood of this G8 GT build sits a BTR stage 2 cam which significantly increases power throughout the RPM range by optimizing valve timing and lift. This camshaft works in perfect harmony with the long tube headers, which eliminate the restrictive factory manifolds to improve exhaust flow and unlock a couple of more additional horsepowers.
The full 3″ Solo Performance exhaust system completes the breathing upgrades, allowing the V8 to expel gases more efficiently while producing a deep rumble to please the ear of any muscle car fan.
To handle the improved power, the owner has swapped the brakes with CTS-V 4-piston Brembo kit, ensuring this yellow missile stops as impressively as it accelerates.
Exterior
The most eye-catching exterior modification is undoubtedly the flexishield gloss sunflower wrap, which transforms this G8 from subtle sleeper to attention-grabbing street presence without crossing into gaudy territory.
But what truly sets this build apart is the HSV e3 front bumper conversion – a nod to the car’s Australian Holden heritage that gives it a more aggressive, purposeful stance while improving airflow to the engine. Custom headlights complete the front-end transformation, adding modern lighting performance and a distinctive signature look.
Wheels & Tires
The owner chose to outfit this G8 GT with CTS-V rims measuring 19×9″ all around, borrowing upscale style from Cadillac’s performance division while maintaining the GM family heritage. These black wheels are wrapped in staggered 285-35-19 tires in the rear and 255-40-19 up front.

Performance stands as the clear focal point of this G8 GT build, scoring 8 out of 10 with the BTR stage 2 cam leading the charge alongside supporting breathing mods and braking upgrades. The exterior modifications earn a respectable 5 out of 10, highlighted by the distinctive HSV e3 front bumper conversion that emphasizes the vehicle’s Australian heritage.
